The Aeronautical Search And Rescue services in Saudi Arabia is organized in accordance with GACA Regulations and the International Standards and Recommended Practices of ICAO.
Saudi Air Navigation Services (SANS) – Air Traffic Management Directorate, Search and Rescue Department is responsible for the coordination of activities related to Search and Rescue.
SANS is operating and managing the Saudi Arabian Mission Control Center (SAMCC)which is designated as focal point for COSPAS-SARSAT and representing Saudi Arabia / GACA in the international Cospas-Sarsat program.
SAMCC is located at the Jeddah / King Abdulaziz International to detect and locate the position of distress signals emitted on 406.000 MHZ and received by the COSPAS / SARSAT satellite system. Distress signals received at the SAMCC will be notified to the appropriate Rescue Coordination Center (RCC) to initiate immediate search and rescue operations.
